At the recent MDM and Data Governance Summit this month in San Francisco, MDM Institute Chief Research Director Aaron Zornes released his listing of top product providers in the RDM space. Here are top products evaluated by the MDM Institute and some of their main features.

ASG metaRDM

This is a business user friendly solution, according to the MDM Institute, which offers integrated/common UI across metaRDM, a business glossary and Rochade metadata repository apps. The product features foundational compliance support via integrated data lineage and impact analysis capabilities, centralized governance / management / stewardship and distribution.

Collibra Reference Data Accelerator

This product features centralized governance, management, stewardship and distribution, the MDM Institute notes. It is a business user friendly solution, with strong taxonomy support and mappings, model-driven ease of deployment, implementation and use.

IBM Reference Data Management Hub

This is a purpose-built, commercially proven RDM product, the MDM Institute says. It utilizes the IBM MDM foundation, and has full function with strong taxonomy support and mappings. It is known for its ease of deployment, implementation and use.

Informatica Cloud - MDM Reference 360

This is a purpose-built, commercially proven RDM product, according to the MDM Institute. It utilizes the INFA Cloud MDM foundation, has full function with strong taxonomy support and mappings, and is strong on ease of deployment, implementation and use.

This product features rich visual modeling and an embedded workflow engine for stewardship and governance, the MDM Institute notes. It has an embedded domain-agnostic matching engine, sophisticated time variance feature, enterprise-scalable architecture, and data and workflow level security.

This product is bundled as part of the MDM product suite, the MDM Institute explains. It is used in banking, insurance, retail, health, gaming and hospitality industries. It offers physical and logical industry models via ERwin and XML specification and strong support for selective merging of metadata from physical MDM reface metadata, logical models in ERwin and external data.

Semarchy xDM v4

This product offers iterative, agile methodology, with a flexible architecture and single platform for MDM and RDM, according to the MDM Institute. Its semantic model, rather than pre-built model, enables flexibility to manage simple-to-complex reference data, and its workbench simplifies physical MDM and allows focus on the logical model.

Software AG WebMethods OneData 9.9

This product offers a robust solution for centralized data governance, management, stewardship and distribution, according to the MDM Institute. It features strong taxonomy support and mappings for public and private reference data can ingest customer metadata models and UI wraps around model.

Teradata LRDM

Teradata MDM always focused on reference data for EDW, the MDM Institute notes. This product features hierarchy management, workflow and visioning, strong Excel integration, ease of deployment, implementation and use.

This is a robust web-based self-service solution with focus on integration with other tools to provide ‘full spectrum’ reference data, the MDM Institute says. The product features model-driven ease of deployment, use and extension, supports comprehensive ‘metadata about reference data’ and strong taxonomy and mapping and crosswalks.
