Houston HIE goes live on InterSystems’ HealthShare platform
In other implementations, Flagler selects clinical variation management software from Ayasdi.

Greater Houston Healthconnect, the region’s health information exchange service, has gone live on the InterSystems HealthShare platform supporting interoperability and care coordination, while also integrating data from providers’ electronic health records to create a unified patient record. Providers in the area serve 12 million patients.
Flagler Hospital, a 335-bed facility in St. Augustine, Fla., has licensed the artificial intelligence clinical variation management software of Ayasdi. The product combines unsupervised learning techniques with supervised prediction and explanations to quickly create care process models for acute and non-acute procedures. Selected care plans can be placed in the electronic health records system as order sets. The software also leverages the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard to pull in required data from multiple sources across the hospital.
San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., has teamed with Cerner to implement clinical information systems, improve patient outcomes and transform care delivery via Cerner’s Millennium health IT platform. The provider will work with the vendor to improve delivery of care, optimize resources, achieve efficiencies and generate cost savings. Cerner will assume operational and administrative responsibilities to protect the EHR data and support high availability of systems. San Juan Regional Medical Center IT staff will become Cerner associates starting Aug. 20, 2018. Further, eight new permanent full-time positions will be added to support the hospital’s new IT solutions and capabilities, says Jeff Bourgeois, CEO at San Juan Regional Medical Center.
Sunbelt Anesthesia Services in Jacksonville, Fla., is starting to implement the anesthesia electronic medical record software of Plexus Technology Group in multiple locations around the region. Sunbelt’s busiest site was the first to go live, and additional surgery centers and several office-based locations are scheduled for implementation later this year.
Crescent Medical Center in Lancaster, Texas, has picked CloudMedx to automate the facility’s clinical documentation process as part of a clinical documentation improvement program. The goal is to free physicians and staff to do more important tasks, particularly patient care. “We are looking to automate this process and reduce the manual entry burden and communication between billers, coders and physicians so this process is streamlined with low documentation errors and queries,” says Khalid Mahmood, MD, President at the 84-bed acute care hospital.
