Mount Sinai selects application to aid data management

Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of health information technology contracts and implementations:

• Mount Sinai Health System in New York has bought data management and patient-provider matching software from Kyruus to better serve its physician access services team. The technology offers detailed provider profiles, user-friendly search capabilities and real-time scheduling, referral and appointments software to refer patients to the most clinically appropriate of nearly 700 providers. The software enables a view of what providers do at a detailed level to match patients optimally, says Abraham Warshaw, MD, chief and medical director of access services.

• Analytics vendor Health Catalyst has donated data warehousing, analytics and outcomes improvement software to Gunnison Valley Hospital, a critical access hospital in Utah, to improve outcomes for patients in the region. “Part of our mission is to transform healthcare, and we feel this partnership with Gunnison Valley Hospital gives us a unique opportunity to pursue this mission,” says Dan Burton, CEO at Health Catalyst. Improving labor and delivery processes will be the first initiative supported with the new technology. The hospital already is well below the national average of Cesarean delivery rates and wants to lower it further while also decreasing the composite neonatal complication rate.

• Five-hospital Palmetto Health in Columbia, SC, a long-time Cerner client, will implement its Millennium Revenue Cycle suite of software. In addition to the core EHR, Palmetto also uses Cerner’s transactions services and acute case management products. Now, it will integrate the revenue cycle software with the EHR to deliver a clinically driven revenue cycle.

• Yale New Haven Health System will implement the CloudSuite Healthcare software of Infor to consolidate homegrown and other applications into a unified suite in the cloud to support real-time visibility and insights. The goal is to move administrative, operational, supply chain and talent management products from department silos and making them accessible in real-time across the enterprise.

• Three healthcare delivery systems recently selected the EPSi financial decision support software of Allscripts to aid in budgeting and planning initiatives that can improve long-range financial performance. Beaumont Health System in metro Detroit recently consolidated all functional applications after a recent merger of its eight hospitals and will use the software to drive financial planning, build an annual operating budget and create enterprisewide decision support capability. Yuma Regional Medical center will use EPSi to develop its operating budget for the next fiscal year and optimize future financial plans. Wise Health System is focusing on integrated cost accounting, budgeting and long-range planning, as well as reporting and analytics tools to plan budgets more accurately and efficiently.
