New interface improves nursing workflow at Beaufort Memorial

- Beaufort Memorial Hospital in South Carolina recently went live on a fetal monitor interface from Meditech, enabling data to flow from the GE Healthcare Centricity system into the Meditech electronic health record system, while also automatically populating appropriate assessments and improving nurse workflows as they now document directly in the fetal monitor software. “Before we got the fetal monitor interface, our nurses would have to view information in the Centricity system and then spend time documenting the information into Meditech,” says Ed Ricks, chief information officer at the 197-bed facility. Now, nurses stay in their native workflow with data flowing between Centricity and Meditech in real time. “Our clinicians no longer have to worry about entering the wrong data or documenting at the wrong time,” Ricks adds.
- Connecticut Children’s Medical Center has gone live on payments management software from InstaMed that connects providers, payers and consumers on a single platform. The platform is integrated with the Epic electronic health record. The entire process, from first contact with InstaMed to go-live with Epic, was done in about 60 days. More than 100 provider organizations using Epic also use InstaMed.
- High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas, and nearby Kearney County Hospital will implement the electronic health records software suite of CPSI covering inpatient, clinic, emergency department, home health, long-term care and assisted living services. CPSI’s TruBridge subsidiary also will provide consulting services.
- Baycrest Health Sciences, an academic clinical training center affiliated with the University of Toronto and offering geriatric residential living, will implement single sign-on and context management software from Caradigm to support identity and access management. The software also supports workflow by eliminating the need to repeatedly type usernames and passwords, simplifying authentication and directing clinicians to the appropriate patient record within seconds, according to the vendor.
- NYC Health + Hospitals has selected the kiteworks software of Accellion Inc. to support secure mobile file sharing and collaboration software. The package includes a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook providing a convenient and secure way for clinicians and administrative staff to send attachments containing protected health information or other sensitive data to external partners. The kiteworks software requires an email recipient to authenticate before opening the link and accessing files.
