While there haven’t been any blockbuster data breaches so far this year, the numbers continue to rise. About 200 data breaches have been reported on the web site operated by the Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Health and Human Services—the list contains breaches of unsecured protected health information affecting 500 or more individuals. According to the Protenus Breach Barometer, about 233 total breaches were reported in the first six months of 2017; in all of 2016, about 450 breaches were reported. Here’s a list of the largest breaches reported so far this year.
